CJH...home for many a zzzzzzzzzzzzz!
CJH...home for many a zzzzzzzzzzzzz!

This site is predominantly for those who joined BRNC in  September 1985, and was set up by those in that intake and they remain the focus of the reunion cycle but we are happy to have Half Term Flights and anyone else who was part of the College in that final term of 1985.

Please do take a few minutes to add your profile here. For those who have already added a profile, feel free to update us all on how much of the last few years was spent recovering from the last reunion and any other notable events since your last  update/ posting.

So, scroll down and take a look at what your old Shipmates have been up to for the last 38 (and counting) years.....

Given that the turnout in 2022 reflected the uncertainties of the past couple of years, we are keen to make it to 100 shipmates in 2025.  So please do refresh the content here and pass on  the message to anyone else who may not be aware of the website and the BRNC 85 social network.

All profiles will be checked before they go live which will mean that there may be a short delay...go to the NAAFI or the Gunroom, have a half of Websters and check back later!

Tom Mills

Occupation: Still in the RN
Comment:
Which Division were you in?: Cunningham
Best memory of BRNC: DTS. From the college itself, mainly the smell of floor polish.
Worst memory of BRNC: Trying to keep a straight face whilst shouting 'Kill, Maim, Destroy"
What have you been doing for the last 39 years!!?: I have spent the last 25 years doing a variety of schoolie things in training establishments, in MoD, at sea, in headquarters and with the Army. I am still serving, and presently with the Army again in Blandford Garrison. I like to think of it as missionary work. I have been married to Pippa for nearly 22 years and have a boy, Peter(15) and girl, Heather (12). One of (I think) the last four Sep 85 Schoolies serving, and the only one left from Cunningham I am certainly the only one who's wife was recently ordained as a CofE priest, and thus a second career of coffee mornings, fund raising and PCC meetings beckons...

Tim Mullett

Occupation: Director, Management Institute
Which Division were you in?: Cunningham
Best memory of BRNC: Sailing the Caribbean on RNSY Adventure (Chalky White and Pete Blakeway were there too) rather than polishing decks on Invincible ...
Worst memory of BRNC: The fear that Lt David HWhite's matching tropical shirt and shorts combo on DTS might actually be uniform!
What have you been doing for the last 39 years!!?: Eight fun-filled years in RN included broken legs, a year on crutches, first job as Sec of RN Hospital Haslar (ha ha Mr Appointer..), 5 trips to the West Indies, 2 to the Falklands, the US Quincentenary Party in Boston Harbour while on HMS ACTIVE, and an alcohol-filled spell back on the staff of BRNC as University Coordinator and visiting officer. Redunded (if it's not, it should be!)in '93 due to too much excitement, backpacked Latin America for 12 months on the loot, then spent seven irresponsible years pretending to be a salsa DJ in Bath and Bristol, (including good times sharing a flat with Dickie Boswell). Married beautiful Kim in 2002, moved to Vietnam a week later with a start-up French private hospital project and have been a HCM City tropical expat for over 7 years now. Moved from healthcare into education and am currently heading a not-for-profit initiative to establish an International Management Institute for Vietnam.

Peter Nelson

Which Division were you in?: Blake Division (what, were there others?)
Best memory of BRNC: Orchestrating the relocation of Richard Swarbrick's cabin to the rugby field - yes that's right Richard: it was me all along.

What have you been doing for the last 39 years!!?: Attended Guildford School of Acting on a scholarship and became a jobbing actor in the UK. Returned to NZ and carried on acting. Also directed and produced and wrote a bit of comedy. Mainly theatre work but a bit of TV and film too. Threw it all in to do something a bit more meaningful with my life, and went to Medical School. Now in my 3rd year as a doctor and really enjoyng it. Planning to be a country doctor, and to that end I've just embarked on the post-grad diploma in Obstetrics.

Lived with a high maintenance woman for a few years (big mistake). No kids. Was enjoying being my own man again, but have now met the girl of most of your dreams.

Andy Reynolds

Best memory of BRNC: PLX. Honestly.
Worst memory of BRNC: All that pointless messing about in boats. Way out of my comfort zone.
What have you been doing for the last 39 years!!?: Became a clanky and was fortunate to have a couple of foreign jobs. Like many, I liked being abroad so much I decided to make it permanent. Left the RN at the end of 08 and moved across the pond for a 5th and final time, to Canada. Now settled in Edmonton with my wife of 18 years, Liz (whom I met at a Freedom Fields party - imagine that!). Now leading a very diverse clean energy R&D team, but also a part-time volunteer ski patroller.

Jamie Richardson

Occupation: Run my own management training business
Comment:
Which Division were you in?: Blake
Best memory of BRNC: Senior Gun Room - getting drinks on a mess bill
Worst memory of BRNC: Receiving first mess bill (see above)
What have you been doing for the last 39 years!!?: Loads!! Chose redundancy when pusser handed me a large brown envelope. A difficult but correct decision. Worked in the commercial world (quite a shock) as a training manager, then joined a consultancy organisation. Loved the work, hated the politics. Looked at joining another organisation but realised I was probably unemployable (too much of a rebel). Only option was to form my own business. Great decision, never looked back. Still doing it, love it.

Andrew Rogers

Children: 0
Occupation: Retired (ish)
Which Division were you in?: St Vincent
Best memory of BRNC: Probably being out and about on the river
Worst memory of BRNC: New Entry Exercise and carrying that bloody rope

After 3 years in the Defence General Munitions IPT I went foreign and NATO, first to SHAPE and then to the Joint Force Command in Brunssum, The Netherlands where I transitioned to be a NATO Civilian. I did this for 10 years working as an advisor to the COS and Director of Management before retiring to Portugal last year where we are now trying to build a house in the middle of the worst Algarvian winter in living memory.
